Dear Dr. Gwynn R. Patterson, OB/GYN (Sierra Vista, AZ),

Thank you for making my wife cry. You have all the personality and compassion of a socket wrench. After making us wait an hour and seeing NO ONE, you come briskly in and quickly and mechanically perform a sonogram. You made no attempt to allow my wife to see what you are doing, in fact, you deliberately blocked her view. You explained nothing. When you finally finished with your measurements, you gave a quick single pass allowing my wife to finally see the child she carries in her womb. "Here's the head, here's the heart, I can't tell what the sex is, there's a leg." Then the lights came on and you shuffled us out. No pictures. No attempt to actually determine the gender. No apology or explanation for the delay in your arrival. I treat my coffee bean grinder with more affection than you treat your patients.

You made my wife cry. You caused my baby to be bathed in the hormones of sorrow and the stress of despair. I truly wonder what that does to the developing brain of an unborn child. I guess we shall see.

I have not sent it. But I believe I might send that or something very similarly worded. I plan on hand delivering such a letter to her personally and not to a nurse to pass it off.

As far as doctors go, I think I might have a better grasp of doctors here than you two might. My data is not as dated, plus there are several people locally I can ask about OB/GYN docs. Not sure Jer has much inside knowledge of OB/GYN.

Jeremy's daughter was born there, I believe your wife just selected the same doctor lol.

My mother in law still travels the 1 hour from NM to see her docs there and my sister in law had 3 of her 5 babies in SV, first thing I did when I saw where we were moving was to make sure all our docs were still there because it is same travel from there or to Douglas since we will be so rural :)

Mistress Maeve who has lived there forever as well as Willow are also good sources of information. But if you picked Dr. H that is who delivered Maire and Gina says it was a good practice to go too :)

I also saw him for OB GYN stuff when I lived there and liked him :)

"You have all the personality and compassion of a socket wrench."

Hey now!!! I know some very nice socket wrenches that would take offence at this! :P I wish you guys had more options down there, there is no excuse for THAT kind of treatment.
