Poll #1638797 Liberals Versus the Tea Party
This poll is closed.

Those of you that dislike the Tea Party, choose the answers that closest match you:

I learned all I need to know about the Tea Party through MSNBC, CNN, Huffington Post, New York Times, Daily Kos, or other progressive media.
I have attended one Tea Party Rally.
I am dependant upon government services (medical, welfare, foodstamps, etc.)
I am a member of a labor union.
I would never attend a Tea Party rally.

Poll closed. Try the new poll for better "balance".

This is kind of stilted. I have people I like and respect who are involved in the TEA Party movement. I disagree with a great deal of the positions they take. I also take offense, when they go out of their way to take offensive positions against me and my opinions.

Concerning the final item: As the TEA Party stands today, I would not attend one of their rallies, except perhaps as an observer, but I have hope that some of the TEA Party will come around to my way of seeing things, and then, of course I'd attend.

It may be a bit stilted (thus the "spork of dubious utility"), but this poll is for all those that dislike, distrust, or hate the Tea Party. I want to know what their background is to see where they learn about the Tea Party and how they formed their opinion of it.

As expected of you, of all the Liberal friends I have on this journal, you tend toward a voice of reason and show at least some willingness to learn about what the opposite side has to say. However, I do still have my doubts about what your sources of information may be.

If you could add just one choice that includes contact with friends or family members, I think you'd have us all covered.

To be honest I get the bulk of my 'knowledge' about it from bloggers (such as "Crooks and Liars", and from Rachel Maddow on MSNBC). But I know there's a human element, and all Tea Party people get there opinion of it somehow that makes sense to them. I am *very* distrustful of the Koch funded message that wants to take down government regulation of most industry as a side effect of reducing other parts of government. I know that my siblings seem most supportive of Tea party views on entitlements. There's room for discussion there, but admittedly the political reality is that the left is tied to the Unions, and loosening entitlements is a tough sell with them.
