Did you vote for Prop 100
? You did?
FOOLS!! You just told the state that fiscal responsibility is NOT important. Like a friend of a alcoholic, you just keep cleaning up the messes and buying more booze instead of letting them lie in their own vomit and sober up then clean themselves. You are an enabler.
New changes to Arizona state withholding
are going into effect this July 1, 2010. They didn't tell you that you were going to pay more in taxes anyway when Prop 100
came along, did they? No. You succumbed to the images of smiling children and the desire to prop up our failed state education system. Senate Bill 1185 (pdf)
, back in 2009 amended the withholding law.
Not one bit of press coverage on this.
New rates beginning July 1, 2010, if no new A-4 Form has been submitted
Employees who do not submit a revised Arizona Form A-4, will automatically be transitioned to the new state tax withholding rates, beginning July 1, 2010, in accordance with the following State of Arizona Department of Revenue table:
|Withholding rate as of |
June 11, 2010
(% of federal tax withheld)
|New withholding rate as of|
July 01, 2010
(% of gross taxable wages)
* Rate available to employees whose compensation is less than $15,000 annually.
Oh! Look at that! your rates went down! Again
The government shakes your hand while stabbing you in the back
and then makes off with your wallet or purse.
The new rates are based on your GROSS TAXABLE INCOME. That is right... your ENTIRE paycheck before deductions. Your Arizona income tax was previously based on a percentage of your Federal income tax. As of July 1, 2010 it is based on your pre-deduction gross income. That means you are going to pay MORE in state taxes. You'd better talk to an accountant NOW so you can start figuring out your deductions.
