Politcally Incorrect Musings

Yesterday I had no meetings. I had high-minded plans to complete one project and make significant progress on another.

Did neither.

Ten hours at the office and I got NOTHING done.

An RF leak killed the hope to have my first project up and running yesterday. Fortunately, I have some parts on hand that will solve that issue. The prototype is working just fine.

Correcting Cartus' loan papers occupied FOUR HOURS. Egads, they have ZERO quality control. Numbers in the loan amount changed from the last iteration they sent me. I'd really like to know how I wound up with an extra $25,000 to put down and STILL have an 80/20 loan.

We use a web-based online collaboration tool, here. I clicked on my file and was editing a presentation due next Thursday. I made great progress. I saved regularly. I closed my application. It asked me if I wanted to save and I said yes. It asked me again and I misunderstood that it was for another file I had open. I told it no. Now the edits I made to my file are gone. Forever. An entire afternoon's work has been commited to the bit-bucket.

Mark eroom saves things to a funky directory...you should be able to recover it if you search through the temp folders. I've done that a few times and now I've learned to drag it to my desktop and work on it there and then drag it back when I'm done.

Actually, immediately after the incident, I went to my lead and asked about what to do. Your temp file thing was mentioned. I did a file search on my 'puter. It did not have the edits on the ones I found.

that's odd...usually if you click "save as.." on the file it shows you what temp it puts it in
