One bit of security software worthy of mention (that I was remiss in not doing so since I was emphasizing Windows) is Gnu Privacy Guard
. GnuPG is an open source, open standard cryptographic software based on PGP cryptography. It is compatible with PGP
versions 5.x and higher.
It is primarily oriented around Linux but I should have mentioned this software as there are Windows versions with graphical front ends
for various Windows software. It even has some chat clients
This is pretty much standard installed software for Linux distributions. However, that doesn't mean you should be afraid of it. It is as easy to use as any other similar software for Windows.... and it is free (as in beer).
